Really loved how things turned out!Hmm, I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first. There's also Peder, of course, but he's often too busy with his carving apprenticeship to catch up with her, and has not yet proposed!

This book will make you WANT to turn the page. They're not betrothed so Miri doesn't have to be faithful to Peder who's her boyfriend? Look no further than this year's buzziest YA and middle-grade graphic novels....Coming down from the mountain to a new life in the city is a thrill to Miri. There are many injustices being done and Miri is desperate to find a way to save not only the shoeless but her friend Britta from violence. Whatever - this was a disappointment. The book ends with Peder and Miri admitting their feelings toward each other and Miri choosing to stay in Mount Eskel with her family for a while.

According to books, fate of Geralt and Yennefer is unknown since they don't appear later in the known history. I loved reading about all of the academy girls again, and it’s exciting to see the possible future laid out for each of them.

Miri's excellence in her studies and her willingness to help her peers despite bitter competition eventually earn her the title of academy princess and the privilege of having the first dance with the prince. Effortlessly combining brains and beauty, Palace of Stone is an excellent primer to politics and ethical reasoning. Although this is set far from the charming Mount Eskel, the strong value of friendship and the rules of diplomacy were taken to a whole new level. How did losing your shoes make the people without shoes like you?

But as Miri befriends students who seem sophisticated and exciting she also learns that they have some fComing down from the mountain to a new life in the city is a thrill to Miri.

:)Note: I listened to the full-cast audiobook from Audible. I felt right back at home in the world of Miri and her fellow academy girls, this time in the big city. Effortlessly combining brains and beauty, Palace of Stone is an excellent primer to politics and ethical reasoning. *sigh* I'm not sure, exactly, how to go about reviewing this book.

She has written three books for adults, including the upcoming Midnight in Austenland (Jan. 2012), companion book to Austenland. And the thing about Miri going to university...so if I spend one year going to school I'm already prepared to go to university! I was left reeling at the end, wishing I could have stayed there forever. This book will not make sense without reading the first. I really really liked the first book.

As I started to read Palace of Stone, I felt giddy but I got disappointed--only at first. In fact, I have to say this book, ominous as it is with the growing threat of street violence, higher taxes on the poor, and perhaps the beginning of a bloody revolution, is even better than the first one!In the words of someone very wise: "Holy cow. Was it just so painfully dreadful that I feel the need to stab my eyes out after reading it?

Epilogue of SoS hints that Geralt is alive. [ Then Miri goes off with Timon on their little romantic journey where he kisses her. Torn between loyalty to the princess and her new friends' ideas, between an old love and a new crush, and between her small mountain home and the bustling city, Miri looks to find her own way in this new place. This book will make you WANT to turn the page. Oh yea, it's that good.
