There are many injustices being done and Miri is desperate to find a way to save not only the shoeless but her friend Britta from violence. Whatever - this was a disappointment. The book ends with Peder and Miri admitting their feelings toward each other and Miri choosing to stay in Mount Eskel with her family for a while.

According to books, fate of Geralt and Yennefer is unknown since they don't appear later in the known history. I loved reading about all of the academy girls again, and it’s exciting to see the possible future laid out for each of them.

Although this is set far from the charming Mount Eskel, the strong value of friendship and the rules of diplomacy were taken to a whole new level. And the thing about Miri going to university...so if I spend one year going to school I'm already prepared to go to university! I was left reeling at the end, wishing I could have stayed there forever. This book will not make sense without reading the first. I really really liked the first book.
