I was caught up in it, wholly, so I didn't notice or much care that some of the notes may have rung melodramatically or the likelihood of events was low. Directed by Denis Villeneuve. Without adding a spoiler, this was just not right.

A film with rave reviews, but I don't think it lived up them. Incendies ("Scorched") is a dark, powerful and haunting thriller-drama from Canadian director Denis Villeneuve.

Incendies is a gripping film, mostly because of the fearless performance of Belgian-born, half Moroccan, half Spanish actress [Lubna] Azabal. 9.9.

I am definitely watching it again.

The film is wonderfully directed and allows the veiwer a disturbing insight into the difficulties and way of life of the Middle East as we speak.

Incendies is an incredible film in which the story alternates between present day and through thirty years or so of history as it unfolds revealing more and more of it’s detail.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 27, 2012 When I finally sat down to watch it, I was moved. Film should be more than realistic—it should elevate circumstances in reality to a position at which we can see, through the lies and compression, reality more clearly.
