Not much is known about their married life. Fun pictures! What a wacky house I have always LOVED this show. This has probably been my favorite Halloween blog post of the year! Love the details you’ve shared!I loved Addams Family! barn turned student center that now I had no idea that (1) The Addams family was only on for two seasons, (2) Morticia was married to Aaron Spelling for 10 years, and (3) Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth are playing them on Broadway!!!

I miss Morticia.

She wasn’t.In fact, in the DVD commentary, the cast says that someone broke into the closed set and stole most of the props as soon as the show was canceled. Such an iconic show, The Addams and The Munsters I loved them both.

Did the show ever go to color? What a gorgeous house!

It does sound like fun to rent a season and watch.I was disappointed to read that had there been a third season, it would have been in color. What a great show. Soon, on the insistence of fellow actor Tony Randall, Astin stepped into Hollywood. Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Nanny and the Professor, The Flying Nun, the Munsters, Addams Family, the Girl With Something Extra — also Mary Poppins, and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever.

I love Gomez and Morticia together…so interesting that you mentioned how their chemistry would have been shocking on TV back then. Astin adopted Patty’s son from a previous relationship, Sean Astin (a popular actor from the ‘LOTR’ trilogy). For the past 2 decades, John Astin has taught drama at the ‘John Hopkins University,’ his alma mater. You might be interested in the website regarding the original Addams House at One of my all time fav shows and I STILL adore the ooky old house!

Thanks so much for showing us the set again.

John and his wife Mollie White Harrison lived on a plantation on the Brazos River that his father gave him. This post is such great timing.

I didn’t realize it only lasted 2 seasons, too bad because I loved watching this show when I was little (still catch it occasionally on TV. He bagged his first lead role in the ‘ABC’ sitcom ‘I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster’ in 1962, alongside co-star Marty Ingles. I am missing a new post! This is my Movie Monday post.

It sure seems like the show ran a lot longer then it actually did.I had so much fun reading this post. I loved “Thing” and cousin, It. Great Halloween costume potential for both.

It is only expected that someone with such high acumen in the field should impart knowledge to the younger generation. He appeared in single episodes on TV shows such as ‘Maverick’ (1960), ‘The Twilight Zone’ (1961), ‘77 Sunset Strip’ (1962), and ‘Ben Casey’ (1962). Frightfully fun post! I think I’m going to have to rent this (or buy it).

This house I actually wouldn’t mind stepping inside of, (if it were real) because it doesn’t seem to be too creepy. At least we can still enjoy them, though. When I was a graduate student at Penn, I heard that Charles Addams was an alum and based the mansion on a building on campus called College Hall. !Oh I LOVED this show as a kid and this post reminded me my mom once made me a Morticia costume for Halloween. The show was based on cartoons by Charles Addams that were published in When I recently made a reference to the show and my kids had no idea what I was talking about, I immediately rented the first season and They were fascinated by the Addams Family’s wonderfully “ooky” house. Thanks for this one!I’m so shocked it only ran for two seasons! Love your blog!I’ll have to revisit the show; I watched it when I was young, but don’t remember much from it. Early life. He has done more than 40 films and has appeared in numerous TV series. Surprising how many elements are popping up in rooms now – the taxidermy, fur rugs, the Victorian look, even Morticia’s chair I see quite often! You really did a fantastic job with all the details! Let’s take a closer look! The Thing was a bodiless hand that appeared out of various boxes throughout the house to help the family whenever needed, from answering phones to disarming burglers.

In the cartoons, Thing was a bodiless head, but they changed it for the TV show.Cassidy was 6’9″ tall and looked pretty imposing on the show.

In 2011, the theater in the Merrick Barn was renamed ‘John Astin Theatre’ to commemorate his contribution to the art of drama and his effort toward successfully revitalizing the drama course at ‘Johns Hopkins.’ Astin, who is a decade short of completing a century, hopes to make drama a major degree again at the institute. While teaching, Astin kept appearing on TV and in movies. He also appeared in the movie ‘Starship II: Rendezvous with Ramses’ in 2015.John Astin married actor Suzanne Hahn in 1956.

With Bob Crane, Jo Anne Worley, Victor Buono, Forrest Tucker. The kitchen surprised me…can you imagine how fabulous it could have been if they had kept the theme going in there, all Practical Magic-ish…but maybe that was the point, to be completely different.
