Shortly after the release of "Oasis," Chang-dong Lee was even appointed as Korea's minister of culture and tourism. Also, I thinkJeon Do-Yeon is to Secret Sunshine as to what Moon So-Ri is to Oasis. Sunshine is a 2007 psychological thriller disguised as a bog-standard sci-fi disaster movie, starring Cillian Murphy.Often overlooked due to its somewhat difficult-to-swallow premise, which sounds like The Core but in THE SUN, the film is actually a slow, melancholic character study, somewhat philosophical in tone, though never fauxlosophic.. Some clues to what Chang-dong Lee may have tried to convey upon the audience can be revealed (without giving away the crux of the movie) by two brief scenes that occurred at the beginning and end of the film.
