We all knew this was coming ... the 2020 Bank Of America Chicago Marathon is the next major running event to bow down to the coronavirus ... with officials canceling the race on Monday.The event -- which had roughly 45,000 finishers in 2019 -- is one of the biggest in the world ... and was set to go down on October 11.Chicago now joins New York, Boston, Pittsburgh and Buffalo marathons in Participants will now have the opportunity to get their entry fees back ... or try their luck in 2021, 2022 or 2023.As of right now, the London Marathon is still slated to go down in October ... but a lot could change before then. 8/10/2020 6:24 PM PT Indiana couple married outside restaurant The Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been canceled this year "in response to the ongoing public health concerns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic," the "For 42 years, runners, volunteers, and spectators have shown up on the streets of Chicago to turn an individual sport into a collective experience," All registered participants have the choice to either receive a refund for this year's race entry or to defer their place and fee to the 2021, 2022 or 2023 race, according to a press release on the marathon's website.Athletes who choose to receive a refund may have to wait a while.
