I plan to use BIN Shellac primer and a sprayer. These cores don't absorb water and hold their shape. The longer the nap, the more paint the roller cover will absorb. Ugh! But overtime we are experiencing failure as the product, did not hold up to normal use for cabinets. As for the prep – I would sand the bottom cabinets as best you can and remove the chipping paint as much as possible.
