There's the tavern side (high chairs and bar) and dining side (booths and tables). I was not really greeted upon entering. John Brewers Tavern is not a gluten-free environment. Although slightly overpriced ($15 for a burger, fries and a drink) this is what you get on the East Coast with no In n Out.

Always seems to be 3 bucks higher each time we go in.My friends and I usually come here for drinks after work and then run across the street to Walgreens and buy drunk munchies lol anyways we love to come here specially during the winter time it's super cozy.

It's one of the best restaurants in Waltham. Been coming here since 2003 when we used to come after work for wing nights. And there was a wait for tables so there will be a lot of disappointed customers. My husband had a salad with salmon. Decent beer selection gets them two stars.Wife and I like this place and are usually never disappointed. Also ordered some cornbread and it was basically the scraps that they didn't want to throw away. The selection is quite good here at the boutique in Chestnut Hill. I ordered two crocks and I thought I was being punked when I saw the size of the cup AND how much chowder they actually put inside. We drove by and got intrigued said hell why not and tried for lunchI love this place and it's food. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for your business, we really appreciate it!My first experience tonight was mediocre. French fries similarly forgettable. The prices are mid way, not cheap, but not expensive. The Manager could not have been more polite and said that they would make a new one and have it to us right away. There were 2 hostess and a server standing at the front. I do always feel like the final bill is just this shade of being too high by about 8 - $12. I live in Cali now, but my husband and I make it a priority during our summer visits to come feast on buffalo wings washed down with large blueberry beers.The service here is exemplary, and the drinks are even better. It's a bit dim inside with a classic American type theme, but clean... also not overly busy. We didn't expect that it was going to be fine dining - it is a pub; however, our meals were not very good. The menu is typical tavern fare with burgers seeming like the obvious choice. Tried them again on a Weds game night; ordered $5.99 Wednesdays hamburger special which comes with fries. The patty…"John Brewer's Tavern is not only the place to be for great food and drink but it is also your destination for all the big games. Thankfully the venue is laid out as a family friendly restaurant in one half and a bar tavern on the other. Hostess was able to seat us right away which was good for a 7pm meal.
