Awesome trail with amazing “top of the world” views after quick, steep ascent to Maggie’s Peak. It is possible to bushwhack your way down the other side of the knob and hike on to Mt Lyn Lowry (with the iron cross on top) but it is rough going, at least initially, with a barely discernable remnant of a trail. The scenery is breathtaking and there is never any problem parking.

The trip to Maggie’s Peak has incredible views of Desolation Wilderness. The falls itself is absolutely gorgeous.

August 2, 2020. Hiking. Well worth the 20-30 minutes it will take for your...Once you get down to it, this is a beautiful waterfall. We did this after a weekend of doing Pyramid, Freel, Jobs Sister, and Jobs Peak so when the thunderstorms hit while chilling at Granite Lake we opted to do Maggie’s Peak another time. Views from the top are outstanding. Also nice building with Park Rangers and all kind of information on The Blue Ridge Parkway.This is the version of our website addressed to speakers of Be careful while parking here, it can be hairy.We weren't planning on visiting but saw some signs while on our way to The Park and decided to stop. Growing up in the area, this is only 15 minutes from my house.One of the very best views of the Great Smokies...Nice rest rooms. Some picnic tables or you can tailgate if you want. Very steep and we had to park a ways back on the road. This place is beautiful. We did go all the way to the bottom of the falls even thought they incourage you not to. A must see!I have been to around 10 falls before in the mountains and this one is my favorite looking. Everything that I you want to see on a trip to the mountains!

We walked down to get a closer look and it was just breath taking!! Got to lake and took a swim. Elevation is over 6,200 ft. so you're looking down on the rest of the area. We often bring picnic lunch or grab a nearby sub sandwich and watch the sunset from the picnic tables.

Very large and wide. The sunsets out there are very, very beautiful as well and I would recommend going at that time. Hiked further to views of several lakes and peaks. The trail was steep and our thighs were burning, but the trail is not that long and there are plenty of benches along the trail to rest. If you get off the beaten path it can be very slippery and muddy!! It's not for everyone- very slippery with ropes to aid your descent, but rewarding once you make the trip. However, the short trip down is very steep. One of the favorite places for locals to hike and enjoy spectacular views. Be very careful. You will also meet great people from all over the world that are here to visit.
