From walking into an abandoned building and finding a note that hints towards what may have happened, to finding a corpse under a tree that prompts a quest that goes from feeling like a small side quest and turning into one of the most interesting stories this game has to share. The pacing picks up and it feels rushed, with too many twists in the plot. Like you, I too really hope they will focus on their strengths and not try to emulate Bioware or CD Projekt Red in the future.First of all, I admit I stumbled onto this blog casually but now I say I really like it!This leads to my main disappointment in this game: the final part of the game. First playthrough did almost the quests, almost all questions marks, then went through the whole map visiting every tiny detail that stood out, like ruins and forest clearings and all that stuff. Granted I can understand some not to like the game as much as most. I suppose to many people this cocktail is precisely what makes it work. It is what it is. I didn't like the Witcher 3 either, and although everyone is entitled to their opinions, I really can't see the hype behind this game, or the series. In my opinion it’s the gameplay you will enjoy or not, not the story ^^CK, you can start from DS3. I honestly think calling this an RPG would insult amazing RPGs that made this genre feel like something, you know.
In BOTW though, thanks to the fantastic climbing and paragliding mechanic, you can go to any place you see in the distance. So this is just my opinion. You’re yanked out of your experience of “being Geralt” and given insight he shouldn’t have. Not being a fan of open world games, and hearing from vocal fans that "even people who don't like open world games will like this game"... didn't help matters. Games. Witcher is an epic tale and it has a dedicated fanbase of nerds who love it dearly. Sweetie Danganronpa offers a compelling story, hilarious characters, a BOLD unique artstyle and stunning music. I was on a high from finishing the game that night (still reeling from the events in the finale actually) so if I were to compare Witcher 3 to something else, it should have been Breath of the Wild. You can't do that in Witcher 3, you have large open zones, without much vertical movement, and then you get funneled into the next zone, almost like Dragon Age Inquistion but on a larger scale and there are even points of no return.The only game I've played this gen that I thought was "overrated" was Final Fantasy XV, because in that case I think there were objective flaws that went beyond taste or preference, and those flaws were not addressed in the reviews around launch nor in the initial player impressions. So very is no way to make fast playthrough ‘cuz – “OMFG your level is too low, get there and make some sidequest”.The first witcher was much better, try it. You might as well have said "I personally didn't like this game", which is fine. It’s not intended to be contrarian per se, because there are times when I agree with the majority. Role playing game is simply you are playing a role. People just want to go around fighting things constantly to keep them engaged while watching cut-scenes from time to time. It let me just focus on the exploration, combat, and general gameplay with minimal intrusion by anything reminding me that I was playing a game. I strongly dislike how everything in our modern society is being politicized, making it almost impossible to simply enjoy good entertainment without the sense of some ideology trying to sneak its way into your brain. Not a fan of title changes. I for one didn’t enjoy the flashbacks where I was forced to play as Ciri, because they reduced the sense of agency and immersion further. Secondly, the sequences involving Ciri really amount to nothing more than glorified cutscenes, where the playable parts are actually quite annoying because they are pointlessly easy and – what’s worse – the cause of more lengthy loading screens. The clunky battle system and controls turned me off from the game. Second playthrough, which i'm going through now, i'm avoiding all avoidable fast travel and walking everywhere. I didnt like 1 and 2.
